BRENDA BLUE SCHOLZ

Brenda Blue Scholz of Gloucester, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her husband and her caregiver, Betty Sue Bullington, on April 22, 2013 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s.

Brenda was born Nov. 5, 1947 in Richmond, Va., to her loving parents, Marshall and Harriette Blue. She graduated from Hermitage High School in 1967 in Richmond.

She was married to Raymond Scholz, a retired engineering technician, who worked at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va. They have two sons, Timothy Scholz and wife Paula who live in King George County, and Bradley Scholz and wife Angelia who live here in Gloucester.

Brenda attended Rappahannock Community College where she qualified to be a preschool teacher. She was instrumental in starting the first preschool at Petsworth Baptist Church in Gloucester where she was director. Later, she returned to Rappahannock Community College to start a lifelong desire to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. While there, she was recognized by the Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges for her Outstanding Merit and Accomplishments.

Brenda has a sister, Shirley Wiley, who lives in Richmond.

I would like to thank several of Brenda’s special friends for their love and care during this time of Brenda’s suffering, George and Jewel Thomas, Shirley Wiley, John and Pat Wicker and Betty Sue Bullington (a friend since childhood and retired registered nurse), who lives in Daytona Beach, Fla., who came to our home to help with Brenda’s care. I would also like to thank the Home Care and Hospice people from Walter Reed Hospital for their help during this sad time, especially Teresa Hogge, Margaret Louden, Lisa Vallandingham, Christina Roane, Drema Schlegel and Jeri-Lee Russ; they are all true angels.

The family will receive visitation at Andrews Funeral Home on May 3, 2013 from 6:30-8 p.m.  Celebration of Life service will be held at Apostles Lutheran Church on May 4, 2013 at 2 p.m.
