Bread for Life settling into new Route 14 location

Gloucester’s Bread for Life Food Pantry has moved into its new location at 7840 John Clayton Memorial Highway.

The location officially opened on Jan. 3 and is currently open on Mondays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Wednesdays 1 to 4 p.m.

Executive Director Monique Raposa said the new location gives the organization a total of 3,100 square feet, which is three times more space as the previous location, which was adjacent to St. Therese Roman Catholic Church. The Route 14 site has a sitting area for those registering with Bread for Life and more space for food storage.

Raposa said they’re still working on layout of the new building to see what works best for volunteers and customers alike. Right now, people can come in, grab a shopping cart and then walk through the new horseshoe-shaped grocery lane. The new location has individual storage behind the shelves that allow for quick and easy restocking.
