Bray appointed gifted coordinator for Mathews schools

The Mathews County School Board met Tuesday morning to close the books on the 2014-2015 school year, as well as make a couple of personnel appointments.

During the meeting held in the school board office conference room, second grade teacher Lee Ann Bray was appointed the division’s new gifted education coordinator, replacing Lesley Hunley, who began her duties as the new assistant superintendent the following day.

Bray has been a teacher at Lee-Jackson Elementary School for the past 19 years. She has her gifted endorsement and administrator’s license, according to the division’s new superintendent, Nancy Welch.

Two other personnel appointments were made at the year-end meeting. Michael Loveless of York County, who most recently taught in Essex schools, was named the music teacher at Thomas Hunter Middle School.
