BRADFORD BRYANT ALLEN

Bradford Bryant Allen, 87, of Gloucester, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 2, 2016.

He retired as Chief Petty Officer Gunner’s Mate from the U.S. Navy after 22 years of active service and served in the Fleet Reserve for an additional eight years. He later retired from BASF in 1993 as an Electrical Technician. Brad was an active member of Reedswood Christian Church. He was thankful for the fellowship he shared with his friend and pastor, Dave Thornton.

Brad enjoyed bluegrass music and was a regular at many music festivals and gatherings. He also enjoyed antique engines and was a member of the Early Day Gas Engine & Tractor Assn., Branch 35. Brad was a charitable man who believed in his country.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley S. Vaughan-Allen; parents, Howard S. Allen and Frances B. Allen.

He is survived by son, Ed Scearce and wife Denise and their children, Connor and Sarah; brother, Howard S. Allen Jr., and sister, Rebecca A. Presby.

Memorial service conducted by the Rev. David Thornton will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Reedswood Christian Church, 7694 Meredith Drive, Gloucester, Va. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 1:30-2 at the church. Inurnment will be private.
