Botetourt named Blue Ribbon School

The Virginia State Board of Education announced last Thursday that Gloucester’s Botetourt Elementary School has been selected as a 2025 National Blue Ribbon School. This is the highest honor a school in the United States can receive and it is the first time in Gloucester County Public Schools history that one of its schools has earned this recognition. Botetourt earned the award based on academic results during the 2023-2024 school year and maintaining that success through the 2024-2025 school year. Only 350 schools in the nation receive the honor each year. With about 99,000 public schools serving more than 49 million students across the county, Botetourt now stands among the top 0.35 percent of schools in the U.S. Virginia has approximately 2,000 public schools and only seven were selected to receive this recognition in 2025....
