The Mathews County Board of Supervisors held a special called meeting last Thursday, Feb. 5 for three purposes—to hold a closed session to discuss a possible out-of-court settlement on cases filed against the county by Hole in the Wall Waterfront Grill, a county-owned property; to provide additional information pertaining to a Jan. 23 hearing date (continued generally) on one of the cases; and to clarify the board’s process in terms of staff requests and information-sharing among board members. The closed session lasted an hour and 42 minutes, and upon returning to open session, board members took no action and provided no information regarding a possible settlement. On the matter of providing additional information on the Jan. 23 hearing date, supervisor David Walsh apologized to County Administrator Ramona Wilson and County Attorney Andrea Erard for comments he made earlier that month regarding continuation of the hearing date.
