BONNIE LOU GEORGE

Bonnie Lou George, 82, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, entered eternal rest on September 30, 2025 with her family by her side. She was born on December 30, 1942 in Dumfries, Virginia. Bonnie was a proud graduate of Southern California University, where she earned her associate degree in business. She spent most of her career as a Contracting Officer in the Federal Government for more than 37 years. She also enjoyed post-retirement employment at a local law office. Throughout her career she received numerous awards for her outstanding service and commitment. Bonnie was married to Kenneth L. Cumberland, with whom she shared a loving partnership, until his passing in 2020. She cherished her extended family deeply and delighted in holidays, especially Christmas gatherings filled with togetherness, laughter and joy. Bonnie’s life was marked by her strong faith. In 2013, she was baptized at Westville Baptist Church in Mathews, Virginia, where she found community, friendship, and purpose. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Isabelle George; her husband, Kenneth Cumberland, and siblings, Barbara Waite and Teresa Collins. Bonnie is survived by her brothers and sisters, Clyde F. Waite (Jo-Ann), Patricia A. George, Ralph D. George, Mary L. Schuck, Sherrill M. Mountjoy (Raymond), and Stephen R. George (DiAnne); along with many nieces and nephews, who will cherish her memory. A service to celebrate Bonnie’s life will be conducted by Pastor Paul Gibson at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, Virginia 20110. Visitation began on Wednesday, October 8 at 11:30 a.m. The funeral service followed immediately at 12:30 p.m., with graveside burial at 2 o’clock at Stonewall Memory Gardens, also in Manassas.
