Willie and Brandy Boettcher are the new owners of Hunter’s Heaven, a gun and hunting supply store located off George Washington Memorial Highway in Hayes.
Hunter’s Heaven was previously owned by Paul Decker, who operated the location for about 42 years prior to the Boettchers.
“(We are) very excited,” said Willie. “It’s something we have wanted for a long time.”
The Boettchers are residents of Gloucester. The couple has been married for five years, they have five children—four girls and one boy. The Boettchers have owned Hunter’s Heaven since January. The Boettchers and Decker have been friends for a very long time. Willie and Decker have known each other since they were 14 years old.
Willie said that after buying the property earlier this year, the location closed for remodeling, reopening in May. The store went through an extensive remodel as well as some renovations to give the business a new look.
The store is a hunter’s heaven filled with firearms, accessories, ammo, and hunting supplies. If there is a certain firearm a customer is looking for and it is not in stock, the item can be ordered for the customer to pick up later.
“If we don’t have it, we can (usually) get it in a week or less,” said Willie.” The store even has its own mascot, Wookie, a male Shih Tzu, who is always there to welcome customers.
Hunter’s Heaven is located on 3530 George Washington Memorial Highway and is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
