BOB K. COLLINS

Bob K. Collins (Pastor of Pastors), age 82, of Hayes, ascended into his heavenly Father’s arms on Aug. 28, 2017.

While raising a young family, Bob proudly served in the National Guard as a warrant officer living in various military locations across the U.S. His deep passion for ministry also began at an early age as he felt God’s call as an evangelist and pastor, and preached wherever the doors were open to hear the Good News of Jesus.

Pastor Collins held a B.A. in Pastoral Theology. He served on numerous boards and committees within his denomination including state youth and Christian education, evangelism and home missions, the state council of the Church of God of VA, Chairperson of the Eastern VA Ministerial Examining Board, member of the Pastoral Advisory Committee for the Church of God School of Theology in Cleveland, Tennessee, and the Ministry to Israel Board. He served on the World Missions Board for the denomination as well as the Board of Hope Charitable Ministry in Portsmouth, and the Board of the International Center for Spiritual Renewal, also in Cleveland.

Most proudly, Pastor Bob Collins was the founding senior pastor of World Outreach Worship Center (formerly known as Denbigh Church of God) where he served for nearly 38 years.  He and his wife, Dot, along with six couples and their children, began this ministry on the first Sunday of January, 1974. He and Dot co-founded Denbigh Christian Academy. Denbigh Christian Academy is a pre-school through the eighth grade with a record attendance of 450 students. He has now joined Dot who went to be with the Lord on March 23, 2007.

Even after “transitioning,” Pastor Bob was a sought-out preacher and teacher of God’s word to many churches around the world. As God’s providence would have it, Bob married Jean this past year and even though their marriage was for a short period their mutual love for each other was evident to all who knew them. Jean has been a true source of love, care and support to Bob during the last few months of his life.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev O.C. Collins and wife Nellie, and his grandson, Jeremy D. Collins.

He is survived by his wife, Jean and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. He is survived by his two sons, Rick K. Collins and wife Nancy, Donald W. Collins and wife Kim; grandchildren, Holly, Timothy and his wife Kim, Amanda, Addison and Samantha Collins; two great-grandchildren, Caedon and Emma Bowes; brother, Dane Clark Collins and wife Brenda; and stepsister, Tina Sauls Moon and husband Edward Jr.

All are encouraged in joining the celebration of Pastor Bob’s life at Bethel Church, 1705 Todds Lane, Hampton at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31. Interment with military honors will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. Visiting hours for family was 5-8 o’clock at Bethel Church on Wednesday evening, Aug. 30.

Flowers are welcome, or in the passion of Bob’s heart for global missions, please consider contributing to the missions fund at World Outreach Worship Center, 1233 Shields Road, Newport News, Va. 23608, or www.wowcenter.org.

Pastor Bob was truly a father figure to many and was seen as a “Pastor of Pastors” around the globe. We his family will miss him dearly but know that he now greatly rejoices with His Savior and the many saints and family who have gone before him.
