Boating safety classes offered next month in Deltaville, Mathews

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 66 will hold a pair of free boating safety classes next month.

The first class will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Cole Building on Ball Park Road in Deltaville. The second class will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad Building at Hudgins.

Hours for both daylong classes are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Students who pass the course will receive their lifetime Virginia Safe Boating Education Certificate. This class satisfies the Virginia requirement that all operators of personal watercraft and motorboats of 10 horsepower or greater pass an approved boating safety education course.

Students may register online by accessing the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources registration site at www.register-ed.com/programs/73.
