The Northern Neck Sail & Power Squadron will hold a couple classes next month for interested boaters at its classroom, located at 453C North Main Street, Kilmarnock. An eight-week class on engine maintenance will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesdays, beginning on Sept. 15. The class will focus on the fundamentals of gas and diesel engines, transmissions, propellers and steering mechanisms. Participants will be taught about engine maintenance, diagnosing programs, communicating with your mechanic and taking an active role in keeping your boat in tiptop shape. The cost is $95; a $20 discount for NNSPS members. Two seminars will be held on Sunday, Sept. 20. At 10 a.m., the seminar will be on Introduction to Marine Weather, with the 1 p.m. seminar on All About VHF/DSC Marine Radio. The cost for each seminar is $10.
