Boards to review draft comp plan Tuesday

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission will hold a joint meeting in the historic courthouse at 7 p.m. Tuesday to review proposed changes to the county’s 2030 Comprehensive Plan.

Last year, the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission worked on a five-year review of the plan, with much of the work spent on updating such items as census demographics and technical data, simplifying verbiage, and adding information about new studies, projects, plans, initiatives and facilities.

The updated draft plan also includes additional information on state requirements and regulations that affect the county and that have been enacted in the past five years.

In addition, rather extensive language has been added to sections about coastal resources management, transportation, physical constraints to development, and the impacts of recurrent flooding.
