Board to discuss $17M in school construction bonds Tuesday

The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors will conduct a public hearing Tuesday night in the colonial courthouse on the issuance of $17 million worth of general obligation school bonds. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and the public hearing will start at 8.

The board is expected to decide after the public hearing whether to issue $12 million to be used to finance a portion of the cost of construction and equipping the new Page Middle School, while $5 million would be used for HVAC improvements and roof repair or replacement at various county schools.

In other news, supervisors are expected to hear a final report from VDOT planning manager Craig Van Dussen on the agency’s Business 17 corridor planning study.

Board members will also hear a draft report of the sewer regionalization effort by Gloucester’s public utilities director Marty Schlesinger and they are expected to discuss the extension of sewer service in the Terrapin Cove Road area near Gloucester...
