Board to consider changes to sign ordinance

The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors will consider amending county code to regulations regarding signs following a public hearing, which is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the colonial courthouse. The regular board of supervisors meeting will begin at 7 o’clock.

The proposed changes to the sign ordinance will clarify how sign area is measured and that grouped signage is calculated based upon each individual sign.

The ordinance change would also increase the maximum permitted on-structure sign area in the B-1 Zoning District from 100 to 200 square feet. Then, in the B-2 Zoning District, the ordinance would measure the permitted sign area for buildings with multiple tenants sharing the same entrance at 1.25 square feet per linear foot of building frontage for each shared entrance, not to exceed 50 square feet in total area for each frontage with a shared entrance.
