Board organizational meeting Tuesday

Gloucester supervisors will get ready for the coming year at the board’s 2017 organizational meeting Tuesday in the colonial courthouse, beginning at 7 p.m.

The board is expected to elect a new chairman and vice chair for the governing body, as well as make its annual appointments to the clerk, deputy clerk and emergency management positions.

Also on Tuesday night, the Gloucester Sheriff’s Office will be officially recognized for receiving first-place honors in the Virginia Law Enforcement Challenge and the National Law Enforcement Challenge in 2016. The board will also receive its quarterly update on local road projects from Joyce McGowan, Saluda residency administrator for the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Other items on the agenda include discussion and approval of the board’s rules of procedure, standards of conduct and code of ethics for the year ahead. Finally, supervisors are expected to discuss and approve committee and commission assignments for 2...
