Board members question county’s participation in regional airport

Gloucester’s participation in the Middle Peninsula Regional Airport Authority came under question Tuesday night when the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors met in the colonial courthouse.

Petsworth district supervisor Michael Winebarger brought up the matter, when the board was asked by county administration to appoint an interim representative from the county to participate on the authority, a position former economic development director Doug Meredith held until his retirement last month.

Gloucester’s assistant county administrator for community development Garrey Curry was voted to serve as an interim representative until the economic development director position is filled. However, Winebarger said, “I hate to see Mr. Curry go over there and waste his time when we don’t get anything out of the airport.”
