Board approves shoreline improvement project at Hayes

The Gloucester County Wetlands Board approved the lone shoreline improvement application for consideration at its meeting on Oct. 11 in the colonial courthouse.

Abby’s Acres, LLC, received authorization to create and enhance approximately 2,000 square feet of tidal wetlands vegetation, landward of mean low water, Environmental Programs Coordinator Linda Walthall said.

That measure will compensate for wetlands disturbed by the placement of sand on vegetated wetlands at the campground property situated along Willetts Creek at 3155 Campground Road, Hayes.

Following its meeting, the wetlands board sat as the Gloucester County Chesapeake Bay Preservation and Erosion Commission. The commission held separate public hearings on four applications for buffer modifications and approved all of them.
