The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved its $108 million budget for fiscal year 2012 during a meeting Tuesday night in the colonial courthouse.

The budget is balanced with no tax increase, keeping a real estate tax rate of 58 cents and a personal property tax rate of $2.60, both per $100 of assessed value.

Several changes were made to County Administrator Brenda Garton’s initial budget proposal from early last month. She included a reclassification of $510,000 from the school’s capital projects portion of the budget to school vehicles to replace school buses damaged by the April 16 tornado. These buses, Garton said, are not fully reimbursable through insurance proceeds.

The budget was also adjusted after a majority of board members voted against Garton’s suggestion to advertise a $2.60 tax rate on boats not solely used for business purposes. This would have been a $1.60 increase over the current rate.
