The Mathews High School track and field team had an eventful past week, traveling to King and Queen last Wednesday where they competed against teams from King William, Middlesex, West Point, and the host Tigers. The Blue Devils also competed in Saturday’s West Point Invitational against multiple teams. At King and Queen, the girls played a phenomenal meet, with every team member placing first in all of their events. Elizabeth Moore placed first in the 3200-meter run. Nora Suthard placed first in the 300-meter hurdles, long jump and triple jump. Shalan Deese placed first in the high jump. Kate Small placed first in the long jump and triple jump for the JV. For the boys, Lars Golden (JV) placed fifth in the 100-meter dash. Julian Wyatt (JV) placed eighth in the 400-meter dash and 12th in the long jump.
