Blue Devil harriers take regionals by storm

The Mathews High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams took last Thursday’s Region A cross championship meet by storm.

The MHS boys demolished the competition with a team score of 35 points, beating out Lancaster (70), Washington and Lee (100) and King William (118), all of whom will advance to Saturday’s state championships as a team. The girls’ squad triumphed with 51 points over Washington and Lee (69), King William (73) and Lancaster (140), who will also advance to the competition at Great Meadows.

All of the runners demonstrated exceptional racing tactics and hard work from the regular racing season. "I was proud of our runners today," MHS coach Drew Greve said following last Thursday’s meet, which was held at Eastern State in Williamsburg.
