Gloucester resident Beau Davenport recently opened Blue Collar Dog Services, a grooming facility, in the 17 Plaza Shopping Center, Ordinary.

Davenport said that his grooming experience began when he was 18. He needed a job and applied at PetSmart. The initial job there that he applied for was not available, so he was offered a position in the store’s grooming department.

He took the job, and ended up thoroughly enjoying it. “It was pretty cool,” Davenport said. “I told myself, ‘I like this.’”

After leaving PetSmart, he decided to open up his own shop. There, he offers basic grooming services such as nail trimmings, ear cleanings, bathing, brushing and haircuts. Dogs are taken by appointment, he added.
