An American Red Cross blood drive held on April 19 at the Piankatank Ruritan Club in Hudgins resulted in the collection of 58 units. Gallon pins were awarded to Pamela Doss, Bill Crowe and Christina Peters (two gallons), Jennifer Mullins (four gallons), and Jack White and Warren James (eight gallons). Dorothy Murphy, Sonia Shursky and Shannon Spiers were first-time donors in Mathews. The drive was sponsored by Macedonia Baptist Church. The next Mathews blood drive will be held July 19.
