Bird netting to be installed on Norris Bridge

Motorists will be restricted to one lane on Route 3 at the Robert O. Norris Bridge from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. today and Friday as crews install bird netting to the bridge, according to Virginia Department of Transportation spokesperson Darragh Copley Frye.

An automated flagging station at the bridge approach will control one-way traffic across the Rappahannock River, one direction at a time and motorists should expect delays at the bridge, Frye said. The Norris Bridge carries Route 3 over the Rappahannock River between Middlesex and Lancaster counties.

Also, Frye said motorists should expect intermittent single-lane closures and brief delays from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. today and Friday on Route 3 at various locations between the Lancaster/Richmond County line, the town of Lively, Route 201 (White Chapel Road) and Route 354 (River Road).
