The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula held its 75th annual board meeting on Thursday, Jan. 21, honoring two members for their leadership and years of service.
Board treasurer Todd Budlong and chairman Scott Russell have been on the board since 2011, receiving the Boys and Girls Clubs of America National Service to Youth Award for their 10 years of devoted service.
Russell also received the Board Member of the Year Award. “This year’s Board Member of the Year recipient gets involved 110 percent,” said Club President and CEO Hal Smith. “He is a tremendous leader and visionary who has led our organization through the approval of a strategic plan that will revolutionize BGCVP for many years to come.”
Also, during the meeting, New Board Member of the Year Award went to Jeff Belote. Belote served on the Octoberfest Auction Gala Committee and Auction Committee which raised over $60,000. He is a Legacy Board Member, whose late father served for nearly 50 years.
