B&G Club Flounder Tournament raises $25,000+

More than $25,000 was raised during the Gloucester Boys & Girls Club’s 15th annual Flounder Fishing Tournament that was held July 7-8 at Crown Pointe Marina, Hayes. Proceeds from the event will benefit the club.

“This is the largest tournament earnings to date,” said tournament spokesperson Brenda Ashe. “After prize payouts, the tournament will give back approximately $16,500 to help support the club.” 

Ashe said the first two top teams that placed walked away with a combined cash payout of $7,000.

She said Scott Davenport and crew won first place with a three-fish weight of 17.78 pounds and total winnings of $4,500. The largest fish weighed in at 6.93 pounds, was caught by the Davenport team. Finally, Thomas Hall won the category for Kid Angler and Jennifer Hall won the Yeardley Blackwell Memorial Lady Angler division.
