BETTY LANE RESPRESS

Betty Lane Respress, 84, died suddenly Monday morning, Feb. 26, 2018 at her home in Gloucester.  She was born July 15, 1933 in Mathews County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis “Dick” and Thelma Lee Armstead Respress of Mathews; her husband, Ellsworth German; her sons, Ellis Dale LeMere, and Michael Keith Crewe; also her sister, Lorraine Hudgins.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah “Joy” Ervin and husband Jimmy of Claremont; her son, William Edward Crewe III and wife Patty of Port St. Lucie, Florida; her brother, C.E. Raye Respress and his wife Gloria of Yorktown; grandchildren, Stacy LeMere, Lindsey Petersen, Alisha Reel, Christian Ervin and Dakota Ervin; great-grandchildren, Spencer Reel, Tad Imoto and Sophia LeMere.

Betty (Mom) was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church for several years. She always looked forward to church services, especially her Adult Ladies Sunday school class. Her life revolved around her family and many friends, she was one that never met a stranger. Her laugh was contagious and her love never ending. She loved hummingbirds and flowers, and she “possessed a green thumb.” She always enjoyed baking pies and delivering them to her many friends and “shut-ins.”

A memorial service will be conducted on March 2, 2018 at 1 p.m., at Macedonia Baptist Church, Foster, by the Rev. Michael Gregory. Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be private.
