BETTY GAYLE MARLOWE SINE

Betty Gayle Marlowe Sine, born Dec. 18, 1938 in Sumter, S.C., to John Calhoun Marlowe and Reba Lee Ralon Marlowe, was taken into the warm embrace of her Lord on April 14, 2016 after a long struggle with a respiratory illness.

She was a 31-year resident of Mathews County, Va. She was a superb Southern cook and loved gardening and sewing. But her most cherished memories are those spent with her family.

She is survived by her loving, adoring husband, Harry F. (Tony) Sine; four of her five children, Lisa Hice, Lori Mattis, Kathleen Taylor, and Kelley Kennedy; her brother, John Calhoun Marlowe Jr.; sisters, Reba “Annette” Brauchler and Frances “June” Wigginton; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A viewing was held Sunday, April 17, at 1 p.m. at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, 160 Main Street Mathews, Va. A funeral service presided by her brother-in-law, Grady Wigginton, followed at 2 o’clock. Entombment was at Windsor Gardens, Dutton, Va.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad in her name.

The family also wishes to thank the devoted nurses and doctors of the Walter Reed Riverside Hospital in Gloucester, Va., who helped to make her last days comfortable and peaceful, and the outpouring of support and love of family and friends for their love and prayers.
