BETTY E. WELCH

Betty E. Welch, 90, of Gloucester, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, in Riverside Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Denver, Colo., and was the daughter of the late Edward and Myrtle Rikhoff. 

She received her BSRN in nursing at Hampton Institute. Betty and her husband Chris produced the show “Woman’s World” for 22 years and produced over 1,000 shows and it was aired on the local cable TV networks. In 2011 Betty and Chris received a Lifetime Achievement Award for the work that they did on “Woman’s World” from the Virginia Legislative.

In her younger years she was the Skating Director for Skating Vanitys, an international skating troupe, and also was an aerobics instructor for Gloucester Parks & Rec. 

Betty was a hugger, and her legacy is for everyone to give hugs.

She is survived by her husband, Christopher S. Welch, and nieces and nephews.

The family received friends at Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, from 6:30-8 p.m.
