BETTY DUNN CLARK

Betty Dunn Clark of Cobbs Creek, passed away after a full and purposeful life, on Thursday, Jan. 12,, 2017.

Betty was born Aug. 10, 1928 in Passaic, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late Edgar and Elizabeth Dunn. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Russell Clark, and her beloved partner of the last 10 years, Wally Scheid.

She is survived by her daughters, Diane Clark and Patricia Suggs; her son, Tommy Clark and her “stepson” Tim Scheid. She is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Betty graduated from the Woman’s College in Greensboro, North Carolina (now known as UNC-G). She met and married her husband Russ Clark, right after graduating from college. They worked together managing Clark Insurance Agency. Upon retirement they moved to Cobbs Creek, where they quickly became involved in the community.

Betty was involved in Kingston Parish as a vestry member, acolyte, and Altar Guild member. She was also a member of the local DAR Chapter, the Woman’s Club, the Garden Club, Meals on Wheels, Bay Aging, the Power Squadron and many other organizations.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Heron Cove and Walter Reed Rehabilitation Center, and also to Betty’s many loyal friends for their service during the last few months of her life. 

A service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 16 at Kingston Parish, with a reception following at the Parish House in Mathews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kingston Parish Episcopal Church.

Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home assisted the family.
