Betty Cox Rollins passed away peacefully on Sept. 1, 2019 after complications from a lengthy illness. She was 99.
A resident of Mathews since 2009, she spent most of her life as a New Englander, living in Swampscott, Massachusetts, for 50 years and Atkinson, New Hampshire, for 35 years. She was a 1936 graduate of Swampscott High School and a 1938 graduate of Bradford Junior College. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, William R. Rollins, who died in 1993.
During her adult life she was an administrative assistant to the principal of Swampscott High School and an avid fan of Swampscott football. In Atkinson, she was both an assistant to the librarian and a longtime Friend of the Library; in addition, she was an active member of PEO, the Atkinson Garden Club and a member of the Congregational Church. Betty also was an election booth volunteer. She had been a voracious reader, an avid golfer and bowler.
She leaves behind two sons, David C. Rollins, his wife Debra of Mathews, and Buz Rollins, his wife Tamara also of Mathews; grandchildren, Bryan C. Rollins, his wife Melissa of Fredericksburg, Kimberly C. Rollins of Penn Valley, California, Michael C. Rollins and Amy W. Rollins of Cape Cod, Massachusetts; great-grandchildren, Zoe and Elle Rollins of Fredericksburg, and Macen and Maia Rollins of Cape Cod.
A private service will be held in Atkinson in the spring of 2020.
