BETTY BOOKER DAME

Betty Booker Dame, age 83, of Gloucester, died at her home on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1958 and Pan American Business School, Richmond, Virginia. In 1969, she became a licensed real estate agent and then Principal Broker of Gloucester Realty. During her career, Betty received many awards and recognitions, including the Real Estate Code of Ethics award, as she was respected and admired by her clients and fellow real estate agents and colleagues. She was generous with her time and knowledge in her business and personal life and an individual who knew how to laugh; she couldn’t wait for her next travel adventure, loved auctions, and enjoyed the luncheons with her classmates, but most of all, she loved her family. Betty was a member of Providence Baptist Church, Walter Reed Garden Club, and the Ware River Yacht Club. Husband, A. Ray Dame; parents, Cecil M. Booker Sr. and Lorene Horsley Booker; brother, Cecil M. Booker Jr., and sister, Opal B. Abernathy, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters, Nikki Dame, Denise Dame Hinnant, ReNaye Dame and husband Chris Hurst; grandchildren, Chase Hinnant, Skylar Hinnant (Katie), Taylor Coleman (Nicolas), Baleigh Galeas (Herman), Cameryn Wilson, Aiden Wilson, and Ashton Wilson. The family received friends at Hogg Funeral Home on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 6-7:30 p.m. The funeral service, conducted by Pastor Kevin Smith, was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2024, in Providence Baptist Church, 3501 Providence Road, Hayes, Va. 23072, and interment followed in the church cemetery.
