BETTY ANN ASHBURN

Betty Ann Ashburn, 89, formerly of Huntington, New York and Cobbs Creek, Virginia, died June 19, 2016 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, her current residence.

Betty was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Robert (Bob) E. Ashburn in 2004. Betty and Bob raised four children together, and are survived by their son, William Ashburn of Lutz, Florida; and daughters, Jeanne Diamond of Nantucket, Massachusetts, Susan Mason of Asbury, New Jersey, and Lois Hedberg of Henrico, Virginia; as well as their respective spouses and eight grandchildren.

Betty was a member of the Locust Grove United Methodist Church in Dutton, Virginia, for 20 years and most recently was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. 

She and her husband were members of the Mathews Yacht Club, and were avid boaters during their years living on the Long Island Sound as well as the Tidewater area of Virginia. Betty enjoyed volunteering at local thrift shops, and was a proud member of her Red Hat ladies group as well as her book club. In addition to being a homemaker, she also worked for a number of years as a legal secretary.

Viewing and a memorial service will be held Friday, June 24, 2016, at the Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home in Mathews, Virginia, with a viewing from 12-12:45 and a memorial service at 1 o’clock. Burial will follow at the H.C. Smithers Cemetery in Mathews.
