Best attendance ever for Jubilee

The 35th Guinea Jubilee saw its best attendance ever this weekend, according to festival chairperson Tara Thomas. “We estimate at least 20,000 attended,” Thomas said. “The parking lots were packed both days.”

According to Thomas, the Guinea Jubilee Committee felt that the fantastic weather definitely contributed favorably to the record attendance.

“This was a terrific festival from our perspective,” she said. There were just a few minor issues reported, including some problems in the parking area with arrivals and departures following the parade.

In the future, she said committee members will be working with the Boy Scouts, who handle the parking for the festival, and the Gloucester Sheriff’s Office over the next year to make the necessary improvements in parking.

“However, a lot of these issues have arisen from the growth in attendance,” Thomas said, “and those are great problems to have.”
