Beaverdam hosts 17th annual Canoe Jam

Conditions were perfect for the 17th annual Canoe Jam that was held Saturday at Beaverdam Park in Gloucester.

Race director Karla Havens said canoes and kayaks were paddled over two- and four-mile courses. Competitors received T-shirts and complimentary items supplied by local area merchants. Door prizes were also supplied by merchants to all of the participants.

Local winners on Saturday’s long course event included Nichole Knott and Dan Knott of Gloucester (recreational canoe), Meagan Knott of Gloucester (sit-on-top kayak) and Larry Baker of Gloucester (sea kayak). 

Local short course winners were Danni Knott of Gloucester (recreational canoe), Meagan Knott and Dan Knott (adult and child, recreational canoe) and Nichole Knott (women, recreational canoe). ...
