Beatrice Clapp Harwood, 89, of Gloucester, Va., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at her home.

She was born in Kalamazoo, Mich., and was a member of Bellamy United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hughes Harwood Sr.; parents, Leo and Alice Clapp; daughter, Audrey Jean Allen, and grandson Robbie Harwood.

She is survived by her children, John Hughes Harwood Jr., Eloise Harwood Shankle, Peter Stuart Harwood, and Robert Alan Harwood Sr.; her sisters; Pearl Bendl, Reva Adkins and Eva Carmine; her brother, Walter Clapp; 11 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
  A memorial service will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at 2 p.m. Burial will be private.
