BBQ at Buck’s Store for July 4 holiday

The Buck’s Store Museum at Bena will be open Friday, July 3 to sell barbecue by the pound ($5) or in bulk (5 lbs./$20). Hours are 3-6 p.m.

The museum is owned by the Guinea Heritage Association which conducts periodic sales of barbecue cooked onsite as fundraisers.

Also available will be barbecue sauce and cheddar cheese wedges, of the country store variety, a release said.

Visitors are asked to wear masks and to observe social distancing.

Work continues to improve the store operated for decades by C.B. Rowe Sr. and his son Buck, C.B. Rowe Jr.

Siding from c. 1960 has been removed to expose older, original clapboard wood siding, GHA said. Still to come are replacing some boards, scraping, sanding, priming and painting the old store. The BBQ fundraiser will help to make this happen, the release said.
