Several Baystars youth soccer teams have started their spring seasons with many celebrating winning weekends. Hurricanes The U10 Hurricanes defeated the Chesapeake United Tsunami, 2-0, in their home opener on Saturday at Woodville Park. Theo Collins scored midway through the first half of the match from a Jep Doley pass. Spencer Leigh served as goalkeeper in the first half and recorded three saves. Declan Long scored on a pass from Collins towards the end of the second half. Gabriel Franklin recorded five saves as goalkeeper during the second half. Defender Braiden Fry and midfielder Jack Sheridan helped the Hurricanes secure the shutout win. The team will play at home again on Saturday against Beach FC. Threshers The U13 Threshers defeated the Beach FC Seidman Cougars, 2-1, over the weekend at Woodville Park. Seth England scored both goals for the Threshers.
