Gloucester Baystars youth soccer teams had a winning weekend among the Hurricanes, the Threshers and the Whitecaps.
Hurricanes
The Baystars U9 Hurricanes traveled to Centerville Soccer Complex in Chesapeake to defeat the Chesapeake Soccer Club Galaxy 2016 team, 9-1.
Jack Sheridan led in scoring for the Hurricanes with a total of three points, followed by Bryce Dautzenberg and Declan Long with two each and Aurick Martinez and Theo Collins with one point apiece. Long and Collins also recorded two and one assists, respectively.
Sebastian Newman and Gabriel Franklin split time as goalkeepers with two and three saves, respectively, during the match.
The Hurricanes will host Chesapeake United at Woodville Park on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The team will hold tryouts on April 28. Visit baystarsports.com for more information.
Threshers
The Baystars U12 Threshers defeated the VA Rush Soccer Club’s 2013B Magic team, 3-1, Saturday on the road at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex.
Scorers for the game were Pablo Ledesma, Atticus Long and Timothy Dutton who were assisted by Dutton, Seth England and Ledesma, respectively.
Whitecaps
The Baystars U10 Whitecaps traveled to the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex Saturday to take a 4-2 victory over the VA Rush SC’s U11 Rangers.
Whitecaps’ goalkeeper Triffon Luechauer marked nine saved goals in the first half, only allowing one goal scored. Ryan Seay and Noah Ford were both able to find the net for the Whitecaps to bring the first-half score to 2-1.
Rey Norzagaray, new to the team, scored early in the second half with Seay also scoring another goal. Ford served as the keeper for the second half, blocking five goals and allowing one.
With their 4-2 win, the Whitecaps remain undefeated and are currently ranked first in the TASL U11 Boys Sky Division.
