Baylands FCU receives award for financial literacy

Baylands Family Credit Union has again earned the Desjardins Financial Education Award for Virginia. Created by the Credit Union National Association, the award recognizes leadership within the credit union movement on behalf of financial literacy for all ages.

“We are thrilled to receive the Desjardins Financial Education Award,” said Teresa Millis, President/CEO of Baylands FCU. “This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our team and the importance we place on supporting our members in their financial journeys. We believe that financial literacy is key to building strong, resilient communities, and we are proud to continue offering resources that help our members achieve their financial goals.”

The award acknowledges Baylands’ approach to financial education, which includes workshops, online resources, and one-on-one consultations designed to meet the diverse needs of its members. In addition to its educational initiatives, Baylands FCU has fostered partnerships with local organizations to extend its financial literacy programs, and most recently introduced its MoneyEDU Online Financial Wellness Center.

Founded in 1946, Baylands Family Credit Union, based in West Point, operates four branch locations and is part of the Co-Op Financial Services Network of credit unions. Membership is open to individuals who live, work, worship, or attend school in Gloucester, Mathews, Middlesex, Chesterfield, James City, New Kent, King William, King and Queen and Essex counties.

Additionally, immediate family members of existing members also qualify for membership. In addition to West Point, Baylands FCU has branches in New Kent and Norge.
