Bay Transit, the public transportation division of Bay Aging, is the Virginia Transit Association’s 2021 Public Transportation Outstanding Marketing Award winner.

Bay Transit received the award at the 2021 Virginia Transit Association Conference & Expo held on Sept. 28-29 in Tysons Corner. Gov. Ralph Northam, who delivered the keynote address at last Wednesday afternoon’s awards luncheon, also posed for a picture displaying a Bay Transit 25th anniversary driver’s cap.

Like transit systems across the country, the COVID-19 pandemic dramatically impacted ridership on Bay Transit’s fleet of 48 buses, a release said. Ridership was also impacted when Bay Aging suspended operations at their eight Active Lifestyle Centers across the region to protect the older adults who attended the centers and took congregate meals there.
