Bay Transit a ‘perfect fit’ for keeping busy, helping others

Bay Transit driver Mike Wallisch can’t keep still.

For Wallisch, who has been driving a Bay Transit bus in Gloucester County for 2½ years, Bay Transit is “a perfect fit because I love helping people.”

Bay Transit, the public transportation division of Bay Aging, provides demand responsive and fixed-route bus service throughout the Northern Neck, Middle Peninsula and New Kent and Charles City counties. To serve an area the size of the state of Delaware, Bay Transit employs about 82 full- and part-time drivers. And the demand for qualified drivers continues to be great.

Even with a mask on, it is easy to spot Wallisch, not only because of his “Mike W.” nametag, but the twinkle in his eyes that give away a big smile underneath his protective mask. “I’m a people person. I’ve met so many beautiful people on this job. Our customers are special people who have become part of the Bay Transit family,” he said.
