Bay School’s ‘Affair to Remember’ to be held Sept. 23 at Samarkand

The Bay School Community Arts Center in Mathews will hold its 19th annual fine arts auction, “An Affair to Remember,” at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, at Samarkand, the 25-acre Woodas Creek estate of Karen Tiller and Mark Polivka of Hawaii.

The festivities will feature silent and live auctions of vacation retreats, a catered meal at a private home, a Turkish rug, a Turner sculpture, a papier maché rabbit, and other collectible art works.

After cocktails with hors d’oeuvres and a dinner buffet catered by the White Dog Bistro, auction-goers can dance to the music of The Phun Doctors, a classic rock and oldies band from Chesapeake.

The auction is the Bay School’s annual fundraising event and its primary source of income.
