Bay School receives $15,000 grant from Dominion

The Dominion Foundation has awarded a $15,000 grant for outreach support to the Bay School Community Arts Center in Mathews.

Cynthia Balderson, manager of corporate philanthropy and community partnerships at the foundation, visited the Bay School Friday to present an oversized check representing the grant award. 

Board members greeted Balderson and told her about the work they do at the school. During a tour of the facility, she spoke to students in a drawing class and saw artwork from Outreach Programs that had been collected for the upcoming OpenArts Through Special Eyes exhibition.

The Bay School’s outreach programs include OpenArts, adult studio classes, open studio programs, after-school art classes, and gallery exhibitions, according to a press release from executive director Pam Doss.

“Everything we do is focused on bringing the experience of art to our community,” Doss said.
