Battle of Hook marker to be unveiled

The community is invited to attend the dedication of the “Battle of the Hook” Gloucester County Local Historical Marker at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the corner of Hook and Hayes roads at Hayes.

The morning’s activities will include an explanation of the significance of the Battle of the Hook, a special recognition, a memorial for the unknown French soldiers interred in Gloucester, the dedication, and music reflective of the time period the battle occurred.

The marker is being sponsored by the Gloucester Historical Society, Gloucester’s Parks, Recreation and Tourism department and the Battle of the Hook Committee.

Those who attend are asked not to block customer parking for the adjacent local businesses. ...
