Battle of Hook marker dedication Saturday

A special marker commemorating the Battle of the Hook will be dedicated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hayes at the corner of Hook and Hayes roads. Aside from the dedication of Gloucester’s newest local historical marker, the morning’s events will include a memorial for the unknown French soldiers interred in Gloucester and the performance of period music.

The event and the marker are sponsored by the Gloucester Historical Society, the Gloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department and the Battle of the Hook Committee. The public is invited to attend, and is asked not to block customer parking for the adjacent local businesses. ...
