Battle of Cricket Hill

During a program Saturday morning, Revolutionary War reenactors from the 7th Virginia Regiment of the Continental Line, led by Capt. Mike Cecere, inset, gave spectators an idea of what the bombardment of Gwynn’s Island was like in July of 1776 as they fired artillery pieces and small arms from their base at Morningstar Marinas. A small boat with a swivel gun also took part in this mock engagement. That afternoon, the reenactors staged an infantry battle near the Gwynn’s Island Civic Center. Photo by Charlie Koenig.
