Battle of Cricket Hill to be commemorated July 10

The Virginia Society, Sons of the American Revolution, will hold a dedication ceremony for the unveiling of a plaque commemorating the 245th anniversary of the Battle of Cricket Hill at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, at Morningstar Marinas, 249 Mill Point Road, Hudgins.
The 1776 battle marked the end of British colonial rule in Virginia, as Lord Dunmore and his fleet were forced to evacuate Gwynn’s Island.
Mike Cecere will be the keynote speaker and the members of the 7th Virginia Regiment will stage a battle reenactment.
