Barn fire

Members of the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc., responded to a barn fire Monday afternoon just before 3 o’clock on O Neil Road near Naxera. According to GVFRS spokesperson Hanna Carson, the caller stated that the hayloft in the barn was on fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire and smoke showing through the roof. Carson said the property owner was able to get all of the animals out of the barn, and there were no injuries on the scene. The cause of the fire is undetermined. Four engines, one tanker, one medic unit and approximately 30 volunteers responded. Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc., responded to the scene mutual aid with one engine, a tanker and approximately 10 members.
