BARBARA WINDER CALLIS KEMP

Barbara Winder Callis Kemp of Mathews County, died on Monday, Dec. 4, 2017.

She was predeceased by her parents, William Allison Callis and Nell Powell Callis, and her husband, Donald Ensign Kemp.

She is survived by her brother, William Allison Callis Jr. of Mathews County; her son, Donald Mark Winder Kemp and his wife Helen Lewis Kemp of Richmond, and her grandsons, Thomas Page Kemp of Washington, D.C., and Landon Carter Kemp of Richmond.

Barbara was an active and faithful member of Ware Episcopal Church, where she served on the altar guild for many years. She retired as Clerk of the Gloucester County General District Court after serving 21 years.  

Barbara volunteered at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital for over 22 years and belonged to the North River Circle of The King’s Daughters. She was a friend of the Mathews Memorial Library and a member of the Mathews Historical Society and Mathews Yacht Club.  

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 8 at Ware Episcopal Church, in Gloucester, followed by burial in the churchyard. The family will receive friends in the parish house immediately following the service and burial.
