BARBARA W. TOMPKINS

Barbara W. Tompkins of Hayes, was born Barbara Lee Wilson in Radford, Virginia, in 1934. Barbara passed away Monday evening, Dec. 12, 2016, with family by her side.

She was predeceased by her husband, Willard, in July of this year and her brother, Richard Wilson.

She leaves behind a brother, Robert T. Wilson; three children, Steven W. Tompkins, Linda G. Gerber and Tracy L. Walton; seven grandchildren, Whitney, Stephanie, Kelly, Jennifer, Sarah, Alex and Joshua;  seven great-grandchildren, Evan, Ava, Julia, Luke, Wyatt, Gabe and Eva; in addition to a niece, several nephews and cousins.

Barbara always remained a country gal at heart but loved the city as well. She was a beautiful accomplished artist both in her china painting and knitting. She loved her family, spending time with them, getting updated pictures and always knowing what new achievements or events were occurring in their lives.  Barbara had a great sense of humor and was always willing to help others. For many years she along with her knitting guild donated many, many hats, gloves and scarves to those in need. Barbara was also proud to be registered in the DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution. Barbara will be missed by many and we are grateful to have known her.
